Zumba Your Way to Health
People in the US are living increasingly sedentary lifestyles, it is important to find time in your day to day life to fit in exercise, and ensure you maintain a good level of health and fitness. If you're working long hours and constantly rushing around, the last thing you want to do is go to the gym or go for a run at the end of a busy day. You can try to fit in in before work or at lunch.

Zumba is a young activity still, being invented in the 1990's, here's a brief rundown of what it's all about. It was created by unintentially by Colombian dancer Alberto Perez at one of his aerobics classes. One day he forgot his music tapes for the session but happened to have some merengue and salsa tapes which he used instead just so the session wouldn't be cancelled. Alberto began to do aerobics moves to this different style music and the energy in the room went crazy. The discovery of Zumba!
The classes became huge and the new style spread to over 80 countries and more than 50,000 fitness centers in the world. The theme is "exercise in disguise" which is one of the reasons for its amazing success. Most people want to be healthy but don't want to partake in repetitive, boring, lonely, draining activities to lose weight! Zumba classes help people get fit and have fun.
Zumba has many benefits, and it results in weight loss. In an hour session, you can expect to burn 400 calories or more, which equates to nearly 1 pound of fat. Regular classes will go a long way to helping you reach your goal weight. Your cardiovascular system will also improve, which helps reduce the chance of heart attacks, and can improve your breathing and general functioning in every day life.
With its constant movements and active dance styles, Zumba also helps improve your coordination. So if you already play sports, Zumba classes will actually benefit you in those too. Better coordination can be crucial in the elderly, which is why Zumba can be good for them also. Just make sure you don't go too crazy if you're out of shape or have any pre existing conditions!
