Q. Did Mike Mentzer Take Steroids?
A. When Mike competed as a bodybuilder he did take steroids. The type of superhuman musculature that's displayed by professional bodybuilders is only possible through the use and/or abuse of anabolic steroids! Let's talk straight. To be a successful pro bodybuilder, you have to beat the competition. If the competition is doing anabolic steroids, you are going to be faced with the same choice.
Mike was very open about his use of steroids and compaired to what pros use today he used very little. This may also have been due to his High Intensity Lower Volume Heavy Duty approach to training which minimized overtraining.
You do not need to take steroids to benefit from Heavy Duty Training and as a matter of fact if you want to do it drug free if may just be the best type of training you can do!
